AI receptionist pricing: one flat monthly price

What you pay, and when
Every charge, in order, from the day you sign up.
- At checkoutYou pay the $1,000 setup. Your free month starts now, at checkout, not on the day your line goes live.
- Your setup callMatt gets in touch to book it. Together you go through how you answer the phone, your hours and prices, what to ask every caller, and when a call should come straight to you.
- Going liveYou turn on call forwarding on your own phone, and we walk you through it. We email you when it's set up, and your account shows when calls are reaching it.
- A week before day 30Stripe, our payment processor, emails you a reminder that the free month is ending and the first $500 is coming.
- Day 30The first $500 is charged to the card you used at checkout. The date is on your receipt page and in your account.
- Every month after$500 on the same date each month, with an emailed receipt, until you cancel. There's no separate reminder before each monthly charge.
- Any timeCancel online from your account. Cancel during the free month and the $500 is never charged.
What the $1,000 setup pays for
The setup fee pays for a person to build your receptionist with you, connect your line and take it live. You don't sign up and then work it out alone. Here's what it covers:
- A setup call with Matt, our founder. You go through how you answer the phone, your hours and prices, what to ask every caller, and when a call should come straight to you.
- Your receptionist, built for your business. We build it from your website, your public business listings and what you tell us on the call.
- Bookings, if you want them. It books into open times in your VVOXA calendar. Connect Google Calendar on the call and every booking shows up there too.
- Your say before it goes live. You check and approve its greeting before it answers a single customer.
- Call forwarding, walked through. You keep your number. We walk you through pointing it at the line we give you, for your phone and your carrier.
- A go-live email. We email you when it's set up, and your account shows when calls are reaching it.
Setup is done remotely, on a phone call, so nobody needs to come to your business. A visit happens only when a business asks for one, and the business covers the travel cost on top of the $1,000.
The $1,000 is never refundable, even if you cancel during the free month (Terms, section 5.1). If you want to hear it before you pay anything, have it call you first. It takes about twenty seconds.
What $500 a month includes
One plan, and this is all of it. There's no cheaper tier with parts taken out and no premium tier with parts held back.
Calls day or night, with no meter.
Weekends and holidays too. No per-minute charge, and no limit on how many calls it answers in a month.
Answers from your facts.
Your greeting, hours, services and prices. It won't make up a price or a time: it takes a number and marks the call for you instead.
Bookings.
Into open times in your VVOXA calendar, with Google Calendar kept in sync, so it never offers a time you're already busy there.
Calls put through to you.
When a caller needs a person, it passes the call to you, and you decide when that should happen. If you don't pick up, the caller can leave a voicemail.
Every call written up.
A summary, the transcript and the recording, in your account moments after the call. The ones that need you are marked.
Live view and Listen in.
Watch a call as it happens, a few seconds behind, and press Listen in to hear it. The caller can't hear you.
Changes whenever you want.
Edit the greeting, hours, prices and what it asks from your account, or send us a message and we'll change it for you.
Room for your team.
Up to 10 people on one account, each with their own sign-in and a role: Admin, Editor or Viewer.
Phone alerts, if you want them.
Turn on notifications in the VVOXA app and it tells you about new bookings, cancellations, messages and voicemails. An alert never shows the caller's number or the words of a message.
A Monday summary.
An email each week with the week's calls, bookings and messages, and up to five messages still waiting for a call back. You can turn it off.
Other tools you use.
Cal.com, Calendly (a pilot), GoHighLevel, HubSpot (in beta), Notion, or a web address of your own through Zapier, Make or n8n. Each stays off until you switch it on.
Texts to your callers.
Once your business has its own texting number registered with the phone carriers, it can text a caller who says yes a confirmation and a reminder. Until then, it sends none.
Your account shows your newest 500 calls, and each recording is deleted 90 days after the call. If you need a copy of one, ask us before then. VVOXA doesn't text or email you about each call; check your account, or turn on the app alerts.
Why there's no per-minute meter
A lot of phone answering is billed by use: per minute, per call, or a monthly allowance with a charge for every minute over it. That's easy to live with when your calls are steady. It's harder when they aren't, because the weeks you get the most calls are the weeks the bill goes up, and they're also the weeks you most need the phone answered.
A meter also turns every call into a small cost to think about. The caller who takes five minutes to describe a problem, the wrong number, the spam call: on a per-minute plan, each one uses part of what you've paid for.
VVOXA is $500 a month whatever happens. A slow month and your busiest month of the year cost the same, and a long call costs the same as a short one.
How to compare prices fairly
Take the number of calls you get in a normal month and in your busiest month. Work out what each would cost on any metered plan you're looking at, including the charge for going over the allowance. Then compare the busy-month figure with $500. That's the month that tells you what a meter really costs.
Compared with the other options
VVOXA isn't the cheapest way to get a phone answered. Here's how it compares with the usual choices.
-
Voicemail
- What you pay
- Nothing extra.
- What the caller gets
- A beep. They leave a message, or they try someone else.
- What you do
- Listen to each message and call back.
-
Hiring a receptionist
- What you pay
- The median US receptionist earned $38,010 a year ($18.27 an hour) in May 2025, before payroll taxes, benefits and time off.
- What the caller gets
- A person, during the hours they work. A person can also greet walk-ins and handle paperwork, which VVOXA can't.
- What you do
- Hire, train, and cover breaks, sick days, nights and weekends.
-
Metered answering services
- What you pay
- A monthly fee plus per-minute or per-call charges, or an allowance with a charge for going over. Some do-it-yourself AI apps cost far less than VVOXA to start.
- What the caller gets
- Depends on the service, live or AI.
- What you do
- Set it up yourself (for most apps), and keep an eye on usage in busy months.
-
VVOXA
- What you pay
- $1,000 setup, then $500 a month after a free first month. That's $6,500 in the first year ($1,000 plus 11 × $500), then $6,000 a year.
- What the caller gets
- An answer on the first ring, day or night, from a receptionist that knows your hours and prices.
- What you do
- A setup call, then turn on forwarding. Check your account for the calls that need you.
Receptionist pay: US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, Receptionists (median pay, May 2025).
Who it isn't for
Better to say it here than after you've paid the setup fee.
- Healthcare practices. VVOXA isn't built or offered for HIPAA-protected health information, and we don't sign business associate agreements. Dental, medical, chiropractic, therapy and other healthcare practices must not use it for patient calls (Terms, section 6.4).
- Emergency or life-safety lines. It can't contact emergency services or send help. Don't use it for 911, alarm, crisis or medical-emergency lines, and keep your own way for urgent callers to reach a person (Terms, section 6.3).
- Outbound or marketing calls. It answers your calls. It doesn't make sales calls or send marketing texts.
- Businesses outside the US. VVOXA is for US businesses and US phone numbers.
- Anyone after the cheapest app to set up alone. There are cheaper do-it-yourself tools. VVOXA's price includes a person setting it up with you.
Questions about pricing
Is there a free trial?
Your first 30 days of the monthly plan are free, counted from checkout. The $1,000 setup is paid at checkout and isn't refundable, even if you cancel during the free month. To hear it before you pay anything, have it call you from our home page, or ring our demo line on (650) 754-4948.
Why is there a $1,000 setup fee?
Because a person sets it up with you. It pays for the setup call, for building your receptionist from your website, your listings and what you tell us, for connecting your line and for taking it live. You don't have to configure anything yourself.
Is the setup fee refundable?
No. It's charged at checkout and never refunded, including if you cancel during the free month, except where the law requires a refund. It's in section 5.1 of our Terms.
Are there per-minute or per-call charges?
No. $500 a month covers every call it answers. There's no per-minute charge and no limit on how many calls it answers.
What if I get a lot of calls?
You pay the same $500. Your busiest month costs the same as your quietest.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Sign in to your account, choose Manage billing and cancel your plan, or email info@vvoxa.com from your account email. Cancel during the free month and the $500 is never charged. Cancel after that and future charges stop, and your receptionist keeps working to the end of the month you've paid for. There are no refunds for part of a month. Turn off call forwarding before your plan ends.
When does the free month start?
At checkout, not on the day your receptionist goes live. The first $500 is charged 30 days after checkout. The date is on your receipt page and in your account.
Does keeping my own number cost extra?
Not from us. You keep your number and turn on call forwarding. Some phone companies charge for forwarding or restrict it, so check your plan.
Are there any other fees?
Prices don't include taxes. If we have to collect a sales tax, we tell you by email and add it to your invoice. Your phone company may charge for call forwarding. If we ever change the monthly price, we email you at least 30 days before the first charge at the new price.
Is it cheaper than hiring a receptionist?
On price alone, yes. The median pay for a US receptionist was $38,010 a year in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, before payroll taxes and benefits. VVOXA's first year is $6,500. But a person does more than answer the phone, so it isn't a straight swap. VVOXA covers the phone, including nights and weekends.
