The AI receptionist that answers your phone when you can't.

VVOXA (say “Voxa”; the first V is silent) is an AI receptionist for small businesses. It picks up on the first ring, talks like someone who works there, and writes down what every caller needs, all on the number you already have.

A real test call to our demo line — that's Matt (our founder) playing the caller. Riley is VVOXA, answering as the front desk of a sample wellness studio.

    1. RileyThanks for calling the VVOXA demo line! I'm Riley, and I'll play the front desk of a sample wellness studio so you can try me out. How can I help?
    2. MattHi. I would like to place an appointment.
    3. RileySure. What kind of session would you like to book?
    4. MattI'd like to book a standard session for tomorrow around eleven in the morning.
    5. RileyTomorrow, Saturday, I have ten, ten thirty, or eleven available for a standard session. Which works best?
    6. MattEleven.
    7. RileyGreat. What's your name?
    8. MattMatt.
    9. RileyIs the number you're calling from the best one to reach you?
    10. MattYes. This number is fine.
    11. RileyWant VVOXA to text you about this booking at this number? That's usually 2 or 3 texts: a confirmation, a reminder an hour before, and a note if anything changes. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. Terms are at vvoxa.com/demo-texts and privacy at vvoxa.com/privacy. Would you like these texts, yes or no?
    12. MattYes.
    13. RileyOne sec.
    14. RileyYou're booked for Saturday at eleven for a standard session at $85. You're down for VVOXA's texts, though they won't arrive for this booking. Anything else I can help with?
    15. MattNo. That is all. Thank you.
    16. RileyThanks, Matt. Take care.

Nothing is cut from the middle; only the silence before the first word and after the last is trimmed. The demo line's texts weren't switched on yet that day, which is why Riley says none will arrive. The texting question is shorter now; today's wording is on the demo line's text terms.

Now hear it on your own phone.

Pick a job for it and a kind of business, put your number in, and it rings you in about twenty seconds. Interrupt it, mumble, ask it something it can't know.

    What should it be?

The businesses are made up, so any names and prices it gives are examples.

US numbers. One demo call per number each hour. We never use your number for marketing.

iPhone set to silence unknown callers? Turn that off for a minute so our call can ring.

    How it works

    1. We set it up with you.

On a call, Matt goes through how you answer the phone: your hours, your prices, what to ask every caller, and when a call should come straight to you.

    2. You forward your number.

Turn on call forwarding on your phone and point it at the line we give you. Your number, your listing and your van stay the same.

    3. It answers, and you catch up.

VVOXA picks up your calls, day or night. Each one lands in your account with a summary and a transcript, and the ones that need you are marked.

How it works, step by step: the setup call, forwarding and what happens on a call

What it does on every call

    • Picks up on the first ring.

Day or night, weekends and holidays.

    • Talks like someone who works there.

It uses your greeting, your hours and your prices. Callers can talk over it, and it asks again when it didn't catch something.

    • Books appointments.

Into open times in your calendar, with Google Calendar kept in sync. It won't offer a time you're already busy.

    • Takes a proper message.

Name, number, what they need and how soon, written up moments after the call ends.

    • Puts calls through to you.

When a caller needs a person, it passes the call to you. You decide when that should happen.

    • Says when it doesn't know.

It won't make up a price or a time. It takes a number and marks the call for you.

    • Lets you listen in.

Watch calls live in your account while they're happening, and listen in if you want to.

    • Changes when you do.

Edit what it says from your account any time: your greeting, hours, prices, and what to ask.

Every call, written up in your account.

Open your account on your phone or computer and you'll see who called, what they wanted and what VVOXA told them. The calls that need you are marked.

Tap the tabs to look around. It's a drawing of the account, filled in with a sample business.

    1. Calls

Every call lands here with who called and what they wanted. A chip shows when it took a message, and urgent messages are marked.

    2. One call, opened

Tap a call to see the caller's details, a short summary and the whole transcript, and to play it back.

    3. Live

While a call is happening, Live shows what's being said, a few seconds behind. Press Listen in to hear it as it happens. The caller can't hear you.

    4. What callers hear first

Your greeting, hours, prices and what to ask are all under Receptionist. Press Edit to change any of it, or send us a message and we'll change it for you.

    Questions owners ask

Will callers know it's not a person?

Some will and some won't. It never claims to be human if someone asks. What matters more is that it picks up on the first ring, doesn't put anyone on hold, and gets the message right. Have it call you and judge for yourself before your customers do.

What happens when it doesn't know something?

It says so, takes a number and marks the call for you. It won't make up a price or a time, because a wrong price costs you more than a callback.

    Can it book appointments?

Yes. It books callers into open slots in your VVOXA calendar and, once your business's own texting number is registered, can text them a confirmation and a reminder. Connect Google Calendar and every booking also appears in your Google Calendar, and it never offers a time you are already busy there. Without booking switched on it takes the request and the times that suit, and flags it for you to confirm, so it never double books your day.

Do I need a new phone number?

No. You keep the number you already give out and turn on call forwarding. Turn forwarding off and your phone rings like it used to.

What do I pay, and can I cancel?

$1,000 once to set it up, which isn't refundable. Your first month is free, then it's $500 a month, the same in a busy month as a quiet one. Cancel online from your account whenever you like.

How will I know a call needs me?

Every call shows up in your account with a summary, and the ones that need you are marked. For a nudge on your phone, add VVOXA to your home screen and turn on alerts in Settings › Your account › Notifications: you can get one for new bookings, cancellations, messages and voicemails, and an alert never shows the caller's number or what they said. VVOXA doesn't text or email you about each call. You can also watch calls live and listen in.

    How do you say VVOXA?

Like “Voxa”. The first V is silent.

    Your phone is ringing.

Hear VVOXA answer it. Put your number in and it'll call you in about twenty seconds.
